  • Do I need a referral to visit your office?

    No referral is needed for most patients. However, some insurance plans may require one, so it’s best to check with your provider or call our office before your visit.

  • Do you accept insurance?

    Yes. We accept most major medical insurance plans, including Medicare, BCBS, United, Humana, and many others. Contrary to popular belief, ocular conditions are considered medical just like any other condition of the body. Vision insurance, which is usually separate, is used just for glasses and/or contact lenses.

  • How soon can I get an appointment?

    We do our best to schedule patients as soon as possible, often within a few days. For urgent eye problems (such as sudden vision loss, flashes, or pain), please call our office at 352-237-0090, and we will do our very best to accommodate a same-day appointment. For routine evaluation, please call the above number or send us a message below.

  • What eye conditions do you treat?

    We provide comprehensive eye care, including treatment for cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, neuro-ophthalmology, pediatric ophthalmology, and strabismus, as well as routine vision exams. We also offer LASER cataract surgery, eyeglass prescriptions, and contact lenses. We have an in-house optical staffed by the excellent Kim Orr.

  • Do you perform cataract surgery in Ocala?

    Yes. Our board-certified ophthalmologists perform advanced cataract surgery using modern lens implant options at our local ambulatory surgery center in Ocala. We’ll discuss which lens type is best for your vision and lifestyle.

  • Do you offer LASER cataract surgery?

    Yes. We are excited to announce that we are the first and only ophthalmologists to offer LASER-assisted cataract surgery in Ocala. We utilize the CATALYS laser which was specifically designed for cataract surgery.

  • Do you see kids?

    Yes! Both Drs. Hamed see children. Dr. Latif Hamed also completed an additional Pediatric and Neuro-ophthalmology fellowship at Bascom Palmer at the end of his training and is particularly well-equipped to help kids with more stubborn eye problems.

  • What should I bring to my appointment?

    Please bring your insurance card, a photo ID, your current glasses or contact lenses, and a list of your current medications.

  • What are the signs that I might need cataract surgery?

    Common signs include blurry or cloudy vision, difficulty driving at night, glare or halos around lights, or fading colors. If you notice these symptoms, schedule a comprehensive eye exam with us.

  • Do you offer treatment for dry eye?

    Yes. We diagnose and treat all forms of dry eye syndrome, including advanced cases. Treatment may include tear substitutes, prescription drops, punctal plugs, or in-office procedures depending on your needs.

  • How often should I have an eye exam?

    Young, healthy adults should have a comprehensive eye exam every 1–2 years,. Patients with diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of eye disease may need more frequent examination.

  • Where are you located?

    We are centrally located in Ocala, Florida, near the Paddock mall, and serve patients throughout Marion County and surrounding areas. You can find us at 3230 SW 33rd Rd with plenty of parking available.

    Absolutely. We are a one-stop shop for all of your eye care needs for the entire family.
